Tonka Cockpit flies into The Boulevard for Top Gun: Maverick

Experience the thrill of a fighter jet for yourself this week as The Boulevard, Banbridge welcomes an authentic full-size Tornado Cockpit onsite for the opening of the hugely anticipated movie, Top Gun: Maverick in Omniplex on May 25.

You and your wingman can sit up front and imagine soaring through the skies above as Maverick and Goose until May 30th, as the cockpit welcomes huge crowds eager to see Tom Cruise’s Maverick confront the ghosts of his past and his deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who choose to fly it.

Throughout the weeklong visit to The Boulevard, commonly nicknamed the ‘Tonka’ Cockpit will be manned by members of Ulster Aviation Society who will be on hand to talk through the aircraft and answer any burning questions.

Aircraft enthusiasts will be able to get up close and personal with the jet and even try on the famous Maverick helmet for the perfect photo op before grabbing some popcorn and settling down to watch the 2022 sequel.

Excited by the arrival of the Tonka Cockpit, Retail Director at The Boulevard, Chris Nelmes said:

“We are thrilled Ulster Aviation Society have brought the impressive aircraft onsite to The Boulevard for the opening week of Top Gun: Maverick.

“Getting to experience and sit in an authentic fighter jet in real life is a once in a lifetime opportunity and what better way to mark the opening of such an iconic blockbuster film than letting people’s imagination run wild and picture themselves soaring the skies as a fighter jet pilot.”

The Tonka Cockpit will be stationed at The Boulevard from Monday 23rd to Monday 30th May and can be visited during the scheme’s opening times.

It will be a free of charge attraction but a £2 donation to the Ulster Aviation Society is welcomed.
